Student of Gdansk University of Technology wins the Young Innovation competition for PGNiG

07.01.2019

Eng. Jędrzej Wrzaskowski, a student of Power Engineering of the Gdańsk University of Technology, took the second place in the fourth competition for the research and development project Young Innovation for PGNiG (Polish Oil and Gas Mining). The subject of his work is “Demonstration system for obtaining hydrogen from DME as an element of electromobility”.

The awarded work contains a proposal to solve the problem of hydrogen storage. It assumes the use of synthetic fuel DME (dimethyl ether) as a carrier, and then the recovery of hydrogen in the process of steam reforming. The small size of the installation allows it to be mounted in an electric vehicle powered by a fuel cell, enabling the use of hydrogen in a safe and ecological way.

The Innovative Young Competition for PGNiG aims to find innovative ideas from the areas of activity of the PGNiG Group, which may initiate the implementation of research and development projects.
