Students from the Student Astronautic Circle operating at the Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW) broke the Polish record in the height of the amateur rocket flight.

„Grot”, a rocket of PW students, reached the height of 18.5 kilometers. Its main elements are a large engine for solid fuel and a narrow hull completed with a head made of brass.

The rocket flew at a maximum speed of 750 m / s (Mach 2.1). “Grot” instead of parachuting, took a ballistic flight. Thanks to precise GPS instructions given by the rocket, students regained its elements.
