Students of the Wrocław University of Technology got to the semi-finals and won a special prize for the best computer simulation in the competition of autonomous robotic submarines RoboSub in California. The team from Wroclaw was the only Polish team among 47 teams from technical universities around the world.

The body of the underwater robot created by the members of the scientific circle “Robocik” was made of fiberglass laminate. It can go down to the depth of 100 m. It has 7 engines and a number of specialized sensors that determine its location, sensors acting as accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer, pressure sensors and leak detectors, signaling even the smallest moisture. It also has four cameras.

The RoboSub competition has been held for 20 years, is organized by the Foundation of the Association of Unmanned Automotive Systems and the American Navy Research Office.
