The SUNRISE consortium, including the University of Warsaw, Leiden University, University of Uppsala, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission, the Italian National Research Council, the European Energy Research Association, and Siemens AG, has received a grant from the European Commission for a project on the use of solar energy in circular economy.

Researchers are to create a roadmap for research aimed at converting solar energy into fuel and other high-value chemical products. The researchers intend to be an alternative to energy based on fossil raw materials. The project is financed under the Horizon 2020 program.

The consortium received an annual grant of EUR 1 million within the Future and Emerging Technologies-Coordination and Support Action call.
