System for screening patient temperature in medical facilities in Silesia

15.05.2020

The temperature screening system using thermal imaging cameras developed by scientists of the Silesian University of Technology helps medical facilities in the Silesian Voivodeship. It allows detecting people with fever entering e.g. a hospital or clinic; it can also be used in other places – e.g. in the shopping malls.

The technology using thermal imaging cameras is a less time-consuming solution than measuring the temperature with a hand-held thermometer and it allows efficiently obtaining subsequent measurements in short intervals between examined people. The obtained result, if it raises suspicions, can be verified without having to “stop” the entrance to the building.

The system is already working in Gliwice: at City Hospital No. 4, Private Health Care Center VITO-MED Sp. z o. o., Zakład Opieki Zdrowotnej MEDEN and at the Hospital for Lung Diseases in Pilchowice.
