Torun scientists are looking for evidence of the dark matter

07.02.2018

Dr Piotr Wcisło from Torun University with his team is looking for evidence for the existence of dark matter. For now, they pointed places where dark matter is not present.

For the purposes of experiments, researchers from Toruń organized a network of optical atomic clocks. Clock from the National Laboratory FAMO cooperates with similar devices in the United States, Europe and Japan. Measurements are so precise that the special camera would measure the speed of approaching America to Europe.

– If we can hear the same “click” in all our clocks we will know that it is not a coincidence. So we will recognize the change of one of the most fundamental physical constants. The experiment will show if there are so-called topological defects  revealing forms of dark matter. (Kp)
