University Clinical Hospital in Opole has a hybrid operating room

05.07.2018

A new hybrid operating room was opened in the University Clinical Hospital in Opole. The investment, which combines the elements of the operating room and the cabinet for treatments with low invasion processes will significantly improve patient safety.

The hybrid operating room is a place where surgeons, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and anesthesiologists can work simultaneously. The room allows to perform treatments combining classic open surgery with minimally invasive surgery. It is possible thanks to the special equipment. This allows for minimally invasive procedures and speeds up diagnostics, reducing the time of surgery.

The room significantly increases the patient’s safety – in the case when during the procedure it turns out that it is necessary to perform the traditional surgery, it can be done immediately, without having to transport the patient to another location.
