University of Life Sciences in Lublin to award archbishop Stanisław Budzik with honorary doctor title

The Archbishop of Lublin Archbishop Stanisław Budzik will be honored with the title of doctor honoris causa of the University of Life Sciences (UP) in Lublin. The ceremony will take place on January 23.

This prestigious award will be granted in recognition of the merits of Archbishop Budzik as an outstanding European scholar, organizer of religious life in the Lublin region and in Poland.

In this way, the UP authorities also want to emphasize the continuation of his predecessors’ activities in the field of “the Church’s dialogue with representatives of culture and its pastoral service towards the academic community”.

Archbishop Stanisław Budzik is a graduate of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), in which he obtained a master’s title in theology in 1977. He is currently the Grand Chancellor of the university. He defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Innsbruck, and received his habilitation at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow, as a professor. He has been the metropolitan bishop of Lublin since 2011.
