University of Warmia and Mazury joins the international project “Water Harmony”

The University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn participates in the international project “Water Harmony”, which is implemented as part of the Horizon 2020 program.

The project starts this year and will last 3 years. The budget of the entire grant is 2 million euros. Its Polish budget is 800,000 PLN. The universities from Norway, Israel, USA, Singapore, China, Romania, Australia and Poland (UWM) and the Institute of Science from Sweden participate in the project.

Harmony is in this project understood simply as a use as little water as possible, as avoiding use of pollutants and assuring the best the water cycle through effective wastewater treatment. – In this project, we want to show how to close various cycles of water – emphasizes Prof. Lech Smoczyński, head of the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Agriculture UWM, coordinator of the Polish part of the project.
