Scientists from the Medical University of Warsaw, the Military University of Technology and the Warsaw University of Technology in cooperation with the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw have developed a prototype helmet for non-invasive ventilation.

The helmet was designed by Łukasz Wróblewski, an anaesthesiologist from the Central Clinical Hospital of the University Clinical Center of the Medical University of Warsaw.

The main advantage of the helmet supporting the breathing process is the possibility of obtaining appropriate air pressure and oxygen concentration inside the helmet, which facilitates the patient’s breathing.

The scientists explain, that connecting the oxygen line to the intake system allows the use of oxygen in a concentration of over 90%. In addition, isolating the patients and filtering exhaled air reduces the spread of the virus and the risk of infecting other people.
