We know the winners of the ‘Polityka’ Scientific Awards

For the 19th time, the editors of the Polityka weekly journal have selected the winners of the Polityka Awards Scientific Awards. Five outstanding scientists received grants of 15,000 PLN.

In the Humanities category, the winner was Dr Olga Śmiechowicz, an assistant at the Theater and Drama Department at the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University. Her monograph on how theatre was used as a political tool in antiquity, will be base for her postdoctoral thesis.

Dr Ewa Zawojska, assistant professor of the Department of Microeconomics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw became a laureate in the Social Sciences category. In the Life Sciences category, the scholarship was received by Andrzej Zieleziński, who is an assistant professor of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Biology at the University of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

Dr Iwona Chlebicka has won the prize in the exact science category. She is an adjunct of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw. In the category of technical sciences the winner was Dr Eng. Mariusz Ptak, assistant professor of the Department of Machine Design and Testing at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology.
