14.11.2018

The Department of Ethics and Social Philosophy of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Economics in Krakow organizes on 22-23 November 2018 a scientific conference “Woman in the XXI century – between liberalism and conservatism”.

The organizers want to start the debate about the place and social role of a modern woman against the background of significant trends in political thought: liberalism and conservatism. Both trends appear as theories having fundamental importance for shaping the current position of women.

The discussion during the conference is to focus on the following issues: the impact of mainstream political philosophy on the way of thinking about a woman; conservative and liberal vision of a woman; What is feminism? (definitions, trends, polemics); What is the difficulty with social understanding and assimilation of the feminist tradition?; What do we mean by discrimination against women?
