Wrocław University of Technology develops a system for analyzing ashes from domestic furnaces

23.04.2019

Wrocław University of Science and Technology summarized the “Feniks” project, in which university scientists together with the City Guard examined what fuel is used by the inhabitants of Wrocław in their furnaces. The result is the development of sampling procedures and analysis system of ash from home furnaces.

One of the main tasks of the project was to develop a control system – from the moment of sampling, to the final report. The University of Science and Technology researchers have prepared an appropriate diagram and a sample collection set consisting of a dozen elements, currently used by guards.

However, before scientists could start research, it was necessary to develop a database, which included information on how individual fuels (coal, coke, wood, etc.) and the most common waste (panels, textiles, plastics or newspapers) are burned. In total, researchers developed 21 markers, providing the guards with the set of samples.
