Wrocław University of Technology to receive nearly 8.2 million in Opus and Prelude programs

The National Science Center allocated nearly PLN 8.2 million to the scientists from the Wrocław University of Technology for the implementation of research projects within Opus and Prelude programs – informed Michał Ciepielski from the information and promotion department of the Wrocław university.

The largest grant was given to Dr Eng. Artur Podhorodecki, from the faculty of basic problems of technology, who received almost PLN 1.5 million for the project “Thin-film light sources with tunable emission in the 1000-2000 nm range based on colloidal, semiconductor quantum nanostructures”.

Dr. Podhorodecki’s solutions may be applied in infrared displays in the military industry as elements of sensors and microchip biosensors and as a light source in various detection systems.

In total, within the Opus program, more than PLN 7.4 million was awarded to 10 scholars, within the Preludium program over PLN 710 thousand grants were received by 6 young scientists from the Wrocław University of Technology.
