Yacht from recycled materials wins international competition

20.04.2018

The design of the yacht by Dr Wojciech Wesołek from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław won the Millennium Yacht Design Award 2018 in the professional category. The awarded project was presented at the “Hybrid and electric propulsion” conference in the Italian Carrara.

The project involves the use of recycled materials for the construction of the yacht protected from marine conditions. The outer shell is made of recycled cutters and ships, the teak floors come from decommissioned yachts, and the interiors are made of elements of beams from the demolition of houses.

According to the author’s plan, the construction of the yacht should be carried out near the demolition site of old ships. “It is also an opportunity for the scrapping community. It gives chances for better working conditions and much higher incomes in the industry commonly recognized as luxurious, “says the author of the project.
