Next Thursday, March 8, 2018, is the 50th anniversary of the March events at the University of Warsaw. Student protests in 1968 were brutally pacified by the communist security service. The celebrations will begin on March 8 at 12.00 with placing flowers at the plaque commemorating March ’68, located at Krakowskie Przedmieście, next to the main gate of the University of Warsaw. At 13.00 in the former University Library Professor Jerzy Eisler will give a speech “March ’68 after half a century: assessments, interpretations and manipulations”. At 5 pm, a meeting with Adam Michnik- one of the participants of the March 1968 events- will take place in the Column Hall of the Historical Institute,.
The interview will be led by Dr Joanna Wawrzyniak from the Institute of Sociology at the University of Warsaw and Professor Dariusz Stola, director of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
