A heart in three dimensions – an innovative application at the University of Opole

13.02.2018

Medical students at the University of Opole as the first in Poland will learn the secrets of the human heart in a three-dimensional virtual reality. They received Virtual Heart, a newest didactic application.

A realistic picture of the heart is viewed using goggles. It can be rotated, enlarged; simulate different body conditions: its healthy, uninterrupted work or changes in different situations, as a result of damage, disease progression or the action of stimuli or chemicals. This is useful for precise planning of operations.

Opole Virtual Heart will enable better education of future doctors in clinical subjects, anatomy and physiology. It was created as a result of cooperation with the Foundation for the Development of Cardiac Surgery (Kp)
