Best master’s thesis competition on machine learning or data analysis awarded

The Faculty of Mathematics and Information Sciences at the Warsaw University of Technology hosted a gala ceremony for a nationwide competition for the best master’s thesis on machine learning or data analysis.

Master’s theses presented at universities in Poland between 2020 and 2021 could be submitted to the competition in two categories: “Methods and Algorithms” and “Applications”. In total, 36 theses were submitted from all over Poland.

In the ‘Methods and Algorithms’ category, the first place was won by the thesis ‘The problem of regression for molecular spectra in mass spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy’ by Barbara Domżał from the University of Warsaw.

In the ‘Applications’ category, the winning paper was the thesis by Michał Pogoda from Wrocław University of Science and Technology, ‘Comparative analysis of selected machine learning methods in the issue of detection and automatic correction of linguistic errors in texts’.
