The compostomat developed at the Faculty of Environmental and Power Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology to increase the efficiency of bio-waste collection received the main prize of the Stena Circular Economy Award – the Leader of Closed Circuit Economy.
Compostomat constructed by a student Karolina Ceglarz is an energy self-sufficient and easy-to-use device that enables increasing the efficiency of bio-waste collection from urban multi-storey blocks. The device is to be located near local rubbish containers.
The residents bring kitchen waste in special chipped containers. In return, they receive points that they can exchange for a home composter, compost, a discount for waste disposal, gadgets that help reduce the amount of waste generated, and discounts to cooperating companies.
