Polish universities will receive a subsidy for doctoral schools increased by PLN 100 million, informed the Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, during the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland.

On October 1, 2019, doctoral schools replaced the previous doctoral studies. Education in the schools is conducted in at least two disciplines. This solution provides a creative and interdisciplinary approach to research.

The primary goal of education at a doctoral school is to write a doctoral dissertation. This process consists of two components: an education program and an individual research plan. The university is free to determine these elements; the program is established by the university senate or the institute’s scientific council.

Currently, 142 doctoral schools at universities, institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and research institutes operate in Poland.
