Departments: Public Finance and Economic and Financial Analysis at the University of Economics in Katowice are inviting the public to the Nobel Colloquium “Should Poland join the Eurozone? Robert Mundell’s optimal currency areas”. The speaker will be Professor Eugeniusz Gatnar.
The organisers plan to discuss the achievements of Robert Mundell, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1999 for his analysis of monetary and fiscal policy under different exchange rate regimes and analysis of optimal currency areas.
A series of discussions on the impact of the Nobel Prize winners’ output on the research undertaken at the University of Economics in Katowice was initiated in 2018. Previous colloquia have focused on the output of Paul Krugman, Elinor Ostrom, Eugen Fama, Herbert Simon, Douglass North, Michael Spence, Daniel Kahneman, David Card, Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, Michel Kremer and Angus Deaton and Milton Friedman.
