The grant will enable the comprehensive revitalisation of the historically owned building at 18 Sobieskiego Street in Gdańsk. The funding – on behalf of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki – was handed over to the university authorities by Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek.

“We are transferring these funds to the Gdańsk University of Technology, which will manage them appropriately, and the form of their transfer performed at the beginning of 2023 – allows us to enter into it with optimism, says the head of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The money will mainly be used for the comprehensive refurbishment of two buildings: the historic 8,300 sq m building, which was acquired by the Gdansk University of Technology in December 2021. Gdansk University of Technology acquired from the University of Gdansk (former UG Department of Chemistry) and the adaptation of the library pavilion building to the needs of the Centre for Security and Defence Technology, as well as increasing the university’s energy security.
