Gdańsk University of Technology to contribute to the cybersecurity system for the energy sector

25.10.2021

Scientists from the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Scottish University of Strathclyde have developed algorithms, models and metrics that enable data sharing from the energy sector. The solutions have been tested in the Italian power plant in Livorno, and the platform used by Polish Power Grids SA.

The work of scientists is the SAN network and the cyber incident information exchange system. The SAN (Situational Awareness Network) helps build situational awareness, i.e. the ability to perceive events, analyze them and determine their effects. The information exchange system supports the exchange of experiences related to cyber incidents from the past and helps to protect against future threats.

Thanks to the developed solutions, power plants and transmission and distribution system operators can be more aware of threats and properly protect themselves against them. The algorithms are created as part of the work of the European EE-ISAC center.
