A team of researchers at the University of Warsaw (UW), led by Dr Barbara Kowalewska from the UW’s Department of Chemistry, has developed a graphene matrix with high stability enabling its use in medicine.

The matrix will be used as a key element in the design of a biosensor that monitors or diagnoses acquired and chronic diseases in a non-invasive way.

The use of graphene in the matrix developed by the UW researchers has enabled the efficient transmission of patient health data acquired by medical biosensors.

The technology for producing the matrix is covered by a patent. A licence agreement for its use has been concluded between the University of Warsaw and Biometryks LLC. The graphene matrix will be used in the design of Biometryks’ biosensor, which analyses sweat, urine or blood samples, monitors and diagnoses diseases in a non-invasive manner.
