Mateusz Kędzierski presented his implementation PhD ‘Experimental research and modelling of the operation of low-pressure liquid-gas two-phase jets in the scientific discipline of Mechanical Engineering’ at the Bialystok University of Technology (PB).

This is the first implementation PhD awarded at the PB Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. It was carried out with the participation of Marine Projects Shipyard in Gdańsk.

The doctorate concerns a pioneering project for the treatment of exhaust gases emitted by large marine vessels. It is primarily concerned with the emission of sulphur oxides, the acceptable volume of which was reduced sevenfold. The new rules necessitate the use of modern and efficient scrubbers, i.e. devices that clean the exhaust gases in a special chamber.

The subject of the defended doctoral thesis is systematic experimental research and modelling of the operation of low-pressure liquid-gas scrubbers in the context of the possible application of such devices in exhaust gas cleaning systems emitted by ships.
