Scientists from the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk and the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences have patented a new method of creating and delivering proteins to the body. Their invention will help people with difficult-to-heal wounds and other skin ailments.

Gdańsk researchers patented the so-called expression multiplication vectors. It is a way of creating and delivering multi-signal proteins to a place in the body that undergoes regeneration. The creators of the solution plan to apply it to the construction of new generation biological drugs.

The use of the latest achievements in biotechnology and molecular biology allowed them to explore the mechanisms of tissue regeneration and the action of new compounds with healing potential. The REGENNOVA project has developed a total of 11 inventions; seven of them received a patent including one by the European Patent Office.
