Jagiellonian University to promote the Polish language and culture in Illinois

Promotion of the Polish language and culture among the academic community of the University of Northern Illinois in the United States is the goal of the project of Dr Rafał Młyński from the Faculty of Polish Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The scientist received funding from the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

The Jagiellonian University and the University of Northern Illinois will implement the project “Poland sounds familiar”, which is aimed at speech therapy students and their lecturers at the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders.

The aim of the project is to promote the Polish language and culture among the American students and staff. It assumes “acquainting the participants of the project with the phonetic and phonological subsystem of the Polish language, contemporary socio-cultural realities and elements of Polish history, as well as developing elementary communication skills in Polish, which may be useful in contact with the child and parent within Polish community”.
