Launch of the Maritime Studies Centre at the University of Gdansk

The Research Centre for the Maritime Economy has been launched at the University of Gdansk. The entity will deal with supporting the conduct of research and scientific projects and linking science with business.

The centre will cooperate with institutions, maritime entrepreneurs, NGOs and all those interested in the maritime economy. The primary objective is to promote and support the development of all areas of the maritime economy through activities to systematise research and development needs in an interdisciplinary manner. 

The contemporary maritime economy encompasses maritime and related inland transport, seaports, the shipping industry, offshore mining, offshore energy, fisheries, aquaculture and fish processing, marine research and development, education and human resource management, maritime administration, maritime cultural heritage and the building of maritime public awareness and maritime and coastal tourism.
