Academic Legion starts at the Opole University of Technology

34 students – volunteers from the Opole University of Technology began their military training as part of the Academic Legion – a pilot program launched by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The program enables students to become soldiers during their studies.

The training consists of a theoretical part, lasting from 30 to 60 hours and exercises in a military unit, which will take place during the summer break and will last for 22 or 44 days. Depending on the chosen program the volunteers will obtain a rank of reserve soldiers, or become non-commissioned officers with the rank of corporal.

Lectures at the Opole University of Technology will be conducted by specialists from the Land Forces Academy in Wrocław. The program includes basic information about the army, national security, first aid, firearms, rules of tactics and behavior on the battlefield.
