Nominees for the Jerzy Giedroyc Award


Established by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin in 2001, the Jerzy Giedroyc Award is awarded for creative continuation of the message of the editor Jerzy Giedroyc and for research into the legacy of the Parisian ‘Culture’. 

Distinguished monographs and collective publications are submitted for the Prize periodically. This year, the members of the Jury selected 9 book titles from among all the applications:

Jakub Gałęziowski ‘Untold biographies. Polish children born because of the war”.

Bartłomiej Kapica ‘Władysław Bieńkowski. A political biography’. 

Helena Krasowska “Poles between the Don, Dniester and Prut. Linguistic biographies”.

Grzegorz Piątek ‘Gdynia Promised. The city, modernism, modernisation 1920-1939″.

Marta Rakoczy ‘Power of letters. Polish modernisation processes and the avant-garde’.

Olha Tkachenko ‘Discourse of Ukrainian Identity in the Polish Opinion-Forming Press during the Orange Revolution and the Euromaidan’.
