A team of doctors from the University Clinical Hospital in Opole led by Dr Jerzy Sacha from the Opole University of Technology, has developed a new minimally invasive method of closing an artery for subclavian access. A description of the method along with a video demonstration was published in the American journal JACC Cardiovascular Interventions.

“The method we have developed is used for aortic valve implantation (TAVI) procedures and insertion of the Impella pump to support the heart. It can also be used in vascular procedures on the aorta,” explains Jerzy Sacha, Professor of the Opole University of Technology, team leader at the University Clinical Hospital in Opole

“JACC Cardiovascular Interventions is the most important journal on invasive cardiology and, as a result, the method developed by the Opole cardiologists and cardiac surgeons is likely to be rapidly disseminated worldwide,” informs the Opole University of Technology.
