Opole University of Technology to launch the first universal design center in Poland

03.03.2021

The first center in Poland for promoting the principles of universal design in the area of design and everyday objects will be established at the Opole University of Technology. The university received nearly PLN 2.5 million for this purpose under the National Center for Research and Development.

– Universal design assumes counteracting social exclusion. Products, in our case we understand them as everyday objects, designs, should be created in such a way that everyone can use them, regardless of whether they are fully functional or not – explains Prof. Grzegorz Królczyk, Vice-Rector for Science and Development of the Opole University of Technology.

The initiative is implemented under the Accessibility Plus Program, which concerns the provision of free access to goods, services and the possibility of participation in social and public life for people with special needs. As part of the project, the university is planning a series of trainings for economic environment, university staff and students.
