Patristic Dictionary to be translated into Polish

30.07.2021

The Ministry of Education and Science awarded a grant for the translation of the Dictionary of Patristic and Christian Antiquities. The project manager is Fr. Prof. Leszek Misiarczyk from the Institute of History of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw.

About 40 Polish and foreign specialists in patrology, history and classical philology will start working on 3volumes with almost 9,000 pages. The project received funding of 1 000 000 PLN. It will be carried out by the Department of Ancient History of the Institute of History at the Faculty of Historical Sciences of the UKSW.

The dictionary is the basic tool of scientific work for patrologists, theologians, historians and classical philologists – says Fr. Prof. Leszek Misiarczyk. The dictionary has so far been available only to those researchers who know the Italian language. For a long time, the community of Polish pathologists had seen a need to translate this work into Polish in order to make it available to Polish researchers and students.
