PhD students from Wrocław University of Science and Technology to go on internships to Denmark and the USA

Two PhD students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology have become laureates of the Etude program of the National Science Center. Young scientists will receive scholarships in the amount of over PLN 100,000 for their research.

Mikołaj Janicki is a PhD student of the Faculty of Chemistry. The subject of his doctoral thesis is “Theoretical studies of the influence of the environment on the photochemical and photophysical properties of selected heterocyclic compounds”. He has got an internship at Harvard University, at the Astrophysics Center headed by Prof. Dimitar Sasselov.

The second laureate is Paweł Holewa who conducts his research in cooperation with the Laboratory of Optical Spectroscopy of Nanostructures at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the Danish Technical University in Copenhagen, where he realizes his internship with Prof. Elizaveta Semenova. The topic of his dissertation is “Growth and characterization of optical gain material based on InAs / InP quantum dots for telecommunications and optoelectronic applications”.
