PhD thesis of a graduate of the University of Economics in Poznań awarded in the PAN competition

The doctoral thesis “Housing Investments and Shaping a Compact City” by Dr Katarzyna Nowakowska presented at the University of Economics in Poznań took third place in the competition of the Committee for Spatial Development of the Country of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the best doctoral dissertation in Spatial Management. 

The competition jury decided that the dissertation concerns the current and accurately identified research problem shaping a compact city through housing investments, in the context of cooperation between the private and public sectors.

The jury’s attention was drawn to the author’s method of measuring the degree of compactness of Polish cities and the dynamic analysis and typology of this phenomenon. The advantage of the work was the skilful combination of various research methods in quantitative and qualitative researches. Dr Katarzyna Nowakowska is a graduate of Spatial Management.
