Dr Eng. Maciej Pieczarka, Wrocław University of Science and Technology is a co-author of the research published in the latest issue of the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters. His research on the “splashing” of the superluminous liquid in the laser was carried out with the team of the Australian National University – one of the leading universities in the world. The article was distinguished by the editor of the journal.

A young physicist has conducted experimental research on unusual semiconductor lasers. These lasers are unique, because although they are constructed as usual lasers, they exhibit unusual physical properties.

– Normally in a laser we deal only with light, i.e. photons. In the laser that I am testing, light behaves as if it had completely different properties. Photons begin to “see” each other and repel each other, which creates a gas of “artificial” particles that interact with each other – says the scientist.
