The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) is the clear leader of the prestigious ranking of Nature Index scientific institutions. It includes the number of papers published in leading scientific journals and the participation of authors of a given institution as co-authors of articles.
The Nature Index takes into account the number and value of scientific articles published by authors from a given institution in the most important and influential journals devoted to the natural sciences. The list includes publications from 82 major journals (including “Nature”, “Science”, “Physical Review A”).
In the publication summary, from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, the Polish Academy of Sciences with 354 works was significantly ahead of the University of Warsaw (195) and the National Center for Nuclear Research (155).
The global classification is headed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences followed by the French National Center for Scientific Research (NCRS) and the Max Planck Society.
