Polish-German ecological solution for industrial laundries

12.08.2019

The Polish-German consortium is developing a solution that will bring savings and reduce environmental pollution in industrial laundries. The REWARD project involves scientists from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology (PW).

In industrial laundries, for 1 kg of dry textiles, up to 10 liters of water and 6 g of detergents are used for washing – says Dr Eng. Maciej Szwast, head of the team from PW.

The Polish-German team wants to recover most of the water and also some of the detergent. The recovered water could go back to the washing process (at the prewash stage), and the detergents – reduce the amount of new washing agents added to subsequent washing cycles.

The aim of the REWARD project is to develop the technology and its economic assessment.
