Polish scientist joins the European Group of Experts on SARS-CoV-2 Variants

Prof. Krzysztof Pyrć from the Małopolska Center of Biotechnology of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow was appointed a member of the European Group of Experts on SARS-CoV-2 Variants. 

The European Group of Experts on SARS-CoV-2 Variants consists of 14 individual experts from Norway, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Spain and Italy. Prof. Pyrć is the only Polish scientist in the European Group of Experts on SARS-CoV-2 Variants as an individual expert.

The tasks of a group of specialists appointed by the European Commission will include establishing criteria for identifying variants of concern and variants of interest, advising on the selection of variants for which vaccines will be developed for EU and European Economic Area, as well as the analysis and interpretation of the collected data and making recommendations.
