Polish scientists develop solutions for Phobos and asteroids probe landers

28.02.2018

The researchers want to find answers to questions what forces affect the chassis of the lander while touching the ground of the Phobos and how the dynamics of this chassis will affect the active steering? The implementation of the projects commissioned by the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences by the European Space Agency should provide the answers.

The proposed solutions will also be used in vehicles settling on light, almost devoid of gravity asteroids, celestial objects on which there are deposits of valuable raw materials.

In the first project Polish Industry Incentive Scheme Landing Once On Phobos – Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences cooperates with the Faculty of Mining and Geoengineering of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. In the second project concerning the impact of active steering on the chassis dynamics, the partners are GMV Romania and AVS United Kingdom. (Kp)
