Polish Society for Jewish Studies to hold a scientific conference “The Jewish Woman – New Research and Research Perspectives”

The Polish Society for Jewish Studies is inviting participants to a nationwide scientific conference entitled The Jewish Woman – New Research and Research Perspectives, which will be held on April 26-28, 2021. The event will be held online. Thanks to the cooperation with the Committee on the History and Culture of Jews at the Polish Academy of Arts it will be open to all interested parties. 

The aim of the conference is to present the latest Polish research on women’s and gender issues within Jewish studies.

The research areas of the conference include: Jewish women and religious law, Jewish women in particular currents of Judaism; Jewish women in local contexts; Education of Jewish girls; Jewish women and their contribution to cultural heritage; Jewish women during the Holocaust.

The partners of the event are the Polish Association for Yiddish Studies, the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University, the M. Anielewicz Centre at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw, Laboratory of Culture and History of Jews at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.
