Poznań University of Life Sciences becomes a partner of the bioCNG production project

16.07.2021

The PGNiG company conducts research on the energy management of the biodegradable fraction of municipal waste. It created a prototype of an innovative installation, which will ultimately produce bioCNG. The research partner of the project is the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.

The solution developed by specialists from PGNiG and scientists from the university in Poznań is based on the principles of a circular economy. It will enable the effective utilization of the biodegradable fraction of municipal wastes based on anaerobic digestion technology and the production of fermentation gas. Its quality indicators will be adapted to the technical standards of biomethane, and then compressed to bioCNG standards.

The prototype installation for the production of biogas from the biodegradable fraction of municipal waste has been operating at the university in Poznań for several months. The technology will be tested in real conditions and then fully commercialized.
