Prof. Magdalena Król from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) awarded the ERC Proof of Concept grant

Prof. Magdalena Król from the Institute of Biology at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) has been awarded the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Proof of Concept grant for cancer research.

As part of the grant, Prof Magdalena Król will study changes in the tumour microenvironment following macrophage therapy. 

Prof. Król is a specialist in experimental oncology. The main directions of her research concern immuno-oncology, tumour biology, the effect of hypoxia on tumour cell growth, therapy of solid tumours, and the search for prognostic and predictive indicators of triple negative breast cancer.

Prof Król is a past recipient of a Pfizer Animal Health fellowship, a L’Oreal postdoctoral fellowship and a Unesco Prize for Women, as well as awards from the Polish Society of Veterinary Sciences. In 2016, she was awarded the first prestigious ERC Starting Grant worth €1.4 million.
