Professor Borysiewicz with the honorary doctorate of the University of Bialystok

Professor Leszek Borysiewicz became an honorary doctor of the University of Bialystok. He is the fifteenth person dignified by the Senate of the Białystok with the doctorate.

During the laudation, the dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Bialystok, Professor Emil Pływaczewski reminded pioneer research on vaccines (especially the vaccine against human papillomavirus), for which Professor Borysiewicz received the title of nobility in 2001 from the Queen of Great Britain Elizabeth II.

Professor Borysiewicz’s parents come from the Podlasie region. He himself was born on April 13, 1951 in Cardiff, in Great Britain. His scientific career is related to British universities and scientific institutions. In the years 2010 – 2017 he was the rector of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.
