Researcher of the University of Gdańsk receives an award from the Academy of Social Sciences of the city of Zhenjiang

Dr Magdalena Łągiewska, director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Gdańsk working in an international research team, won the first prize of the Zhenjiang Academy of Social Sciences for a project in applied research in social sciences.

Her “Study of the foreign communication strategy of Zhenjiang poems” project aimed to investigate how the spread of poetry culture abroad influences the image of the city of Zhenjiang. It was attended by scientists from Chinese universities: Jiangsu University, Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Beibu Gulf University in Beijing and the University of Gdańsk.

Zhenjiang is a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is an important port and a picturesque tourist town in the Yangtze River Delta. It is located in Jiangsu Province and has a permanent population of 3.12 million. Zhenjiang is also a Chinese poetry city, where more than 10,000 poems were written.
