Researchers from Poznań work on innovative technology to combat cancer

08.03.2018

Poznań researchers developed a method for obtaining from hemp drugs supporting the treatment of patients with cancer.

The project was conducted for four years by the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, in cooperation with the Institute of Natural Fibers and Medicinal Plants of the University of Medicine in Poznań and the Institute of Human Genetics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznań.

They developed an innovative technology for obtaining from hemp agents that support the treatment of cancer patients with a low content of psychoactive substances. Results show that the chemical compounds contained in this plant (cannabinoids) can inhibit or even destroy cancer cells. However, before the drug hits the market, many years of analysis, clinical and observational studies are necessary.
