06.06.2019

Scientists from the Department of Geoinformatics and Cartography of the University of Wrocław has developed a system for locating missing persons in open areas. According to their plans, in two years it will be implemented in saving human life during exploratory campaigns.

Thanks to the innovative combination of geographical knowledge, information skills and drone capabilities, the scientists created an algorithm to search targets from the bird’s eye view. It can detect people in aerial photographs, on which man is only a group of pixels, similar to animals and bushes.

The team decided to set up a technology company and commercialize the solution. A capital company SARUAV was established, which is supported by the University of Wroclaw and has the university license agreement. The company will cooperate with investment fund Epic Alfa, whose main investor is a company from the PGE Capital Group.
