The Polish Space Agency has concluded an agreement with the Rzeszów University of Technology (PRz). One of the assumptions is to launch a space observatory at the Academic Gliding Center in Bezmiechowa.

Under the agreement signed by the president of the Polish Space Agency, Prof. Grzegorz Wrochna and the Rector of the University, Prof. Eng. Piotr Koszelnik, the Polish Space Agency will provide construction works as well as installation, operation and maintenance of the space observation infrastructure.

“From the point of view of the Agency, the main goal of the observatory will be to search for and track artificial satellites of the Earth in the sky. With increasing number of satellites, this is necessary to avoid collisions and ensure space safety. Establishing cooperation with the Rzeszów University of Technology will allow for its wider use. The construction of the observatory in Bezmiechowa will certainly also contribute to better training of personnel for the space sector in Poland, in particular in space safety”, said President Wrochna.
