The project ‘Antioxidant and immunostimulating effects of varying levels and reciprocal ratios of lysine, arginine and methionine in feed mixtures for slaughter turkeys’ received the Award of the Committee of Zootechnical Sciences and Aquaculture of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) for 2022.

Eleven scientists were involved in the project. Five of them were researchers from the University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn, two from the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) in Olsztyn and four scientists from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin. The team was led by Prof Jan Jankowski, head of the Department of Poultry and Beekeeping at UWM.

Lysine, arginine and methionine are essential amino acids for the proper development of animals. They affect their growth and immunity. During the research, it was crucial to determine the proportions in which the amino acids should occur in feed.

The results of the research were described in detail in 11 articles published in renowned scientific journals and presented at prestigious symposia.
