Scientist from the Jagiellonian University becomes laureate of the International Stefan Banach

Dr Marcin Sroka from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Jagiellonian University (WMiI UJ) in Krakow has been awarded the International Prize of Stefan Banach in 2022.

The jury also awarded two distinctions. They were received by Dr Agnieszka Hejna from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Wrocław and Dr Dominik Burek also from the Faculty of Mathematics and Design of the Jagiellonian University.

Dr Marcin Sroka is a graduate of the Jagiellonian University and deals with geometric analysis. According to the Jagiellonian University, he is currently “conducting research on the Monge-Ampere equation, which appeared in the context of the Alesker-Verbitsky hypothesis”.

He presented his doctorate written under the supervision of Prof. Sławomir Kołodziej with distinction in October 2021. Currently, as part of the Etiuda grant, he is an intern with Prof. Bo Berndtsson at the Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. Dr Sroka is also managing the Preludium grant.
